Fractional Ownership Opportunity

Fractional Ownership Opportunity

The current owner of a 1998 Robertson and Caine 45" sailing catamaran, located in the British Virgin Islands, is setting up a fractional ownership program to share ownership in his newly refurbished boat, Sailaway Free. The boat has been in a bareboat charter service since the year 1999. The owner has removed it from charter service and is in the process of completely updating and refurbishing the boat in order to make it available to a select group of responsible, adult, experienced sailors who wish to own a catamaran in the BVI.

Beyond Ownership: New Models for Affordable Boating

Sailaway Free was sold in 2017. Alas, it seems true that the 2 best days of a boat owners life are when you buy it, and when you sell. The holding costs are so high, that living that dream is out of reach for most. Yet its also true that various charter owners enjoy a very lucrative lifestyle. For example my boat, shown here, went out bareboat on an average of 25 weeks per year for 6 years, at a rate of $7000 dollars per week. Yet my ANNUAL income as the boat owner was approximately a total of $5000, which barely covered the insurance. I am interested in meeting with other interested parties to discuss the possibilities of fractional ownership, a boating club, a charter operation, or a yacht management company. If you want to get back to the islands, on the water, and are open to brainstorming to find a way, lets talk.
